Barber Osgerby at Somerset House: Launch of "One by One" book and Hotaru paper lanterns for TwentyTwentyOne

London Design Festival 2015 Highlight: Somerset House

Somerset House is a grand new venue for London Design Festival 2015, with a nice mix of installations and product launches, including a welcome touch of tech.

The major exhibition is Ten Designers in the West Wing. Big name designers like Barber Osgerby, Ross Lovegrove and Jasper Morrison are showing recent projects.

Installations like Faye Toogood’s drawing-filled room, Patternity’s monochrome delight and Hem’s musical lights bring fun into the dignified spaces of the West Wing.

In the River Galleries is Samsung’s new SerifTV by the Bouroullecs. Their beautiful take on tech as furniture is generating a lot of interest.

For tech, look for the Powered by Tweets installation and Punkt M01 Mobile Phone by Jasper Morrison, a back-to-basics, call and text only phone that reminds me (fondly!) of my first Nokia.

In the Embankment Galleries, Max Lamb and Gallery FUMI have a peaceful installation called My Grandfather’s Tree, a 187-year-old ash tree given new life.
