The Creative Clerkenwell Edit

I will be taking part in the @clerkenwelldesignweek Fringe @craftcentraluk starting tomorrow! This is likely to be my last time participating in the Open Studios before Craft Central moves away from the beloved St John's Sq premises in Aug. I will be in Studio 54 on the 5th floor. 23-25 May, 4-7pm. Free entry. Taking a lesson out of @sato_hisao_workbox 's book, I too am curious as to the effectiveness of Instagram. So the first person I meet at my stall who mentions that they have seen this Instagram post will be given a set of these risoprinted greeting cards! (Sorry but this only applies to people who I have never met!) #cdw2017 #linoprint #artdeco #brutalism #londonarchitecture #handmade #handprinted #risoprint #giveaway #greetingcards #Clerkenwell #ec1 #barbican #monochrome #monochromatic #blackandwhite #florincourt #whitehavenmansion #poirot #herculepoirot #artdecoarchitecture #trellicktower #ernogoldfinger

Designing and making this commission took me back to my days as an architect in New York city. Its been 17 years since I studied and worked there, but to this day I cannot help but be influenced by the energy, forms and materials of a such an awesome city. I call this piece the Astor ring, as it heralds back to the Art Deco period when aristocratics like the Astors made significant contributions to the cityscape (Waldorf-Astoria and St. Regis hotels) that defined Art Deco architecture. I would like to think that maybe even one of the lady Astors might wear a statement piece of jewelry like this ring too? . The piece is made of Fairtrade gold with white and black diamonds. The elements set with black diamonds have been plated with black rhodium. . #fairtradegold #fairtrade #18kwhite #diamond #diamonds #diamondring #blackdiamonds #blackandwhite #artdeco #astor #astorring #architecture #cocktailring #statementjewelry #estatejewelry #estatejewellery #onmybench #instajewelry #instajewellery #micropave #urban #blackrhodium #bespoke #bespokejewellery #customjewelry #custom
