Celebrating Clerkenwell’s long history as a home to makers, the Makers in Residence studio visit programme offers visitors a behind the scenes look at the workspaces of some of the UK’s best contemporary makers. A range of makers, from a milliner to a goldsmith, will do demonstrations, explain their design process, and answer visitors’ questions.

Featured designers and makers include Amanda Li Hope, Andrew English, Apple & Pear, Day C, Mark Nuell and Rachel Black Millinery.

Secret Gin Garden in Lansons’ Courtyard

Dates: Tue 21 – Thu 23 May, 2013

Opening hours: Tue 21 10am-8pm (6pm-8pm Creative Clerkenwell party), Wed 22 10am-5pm, Thu 23 10am-4pm
Herbal tea infusions available from 10am, with cocktails on offer from midday daily.

cdw2013-gin-garden-lansons-courtyardOur friends at Lansons Communications will be opening up its private courtyard to host a Secret Gin Garden for the duration of Clerkenwell Design Week, a nice nod to both the Chelsea flower show and Clerkenwell’s gin distilling history.

The Gin Garden pops up in unexpected spaces, mixing and serving drinks, working with local distilleries and complementing the botanicals of their unique gin with local herbs, fruits and flowers.

Illustrator Mercedes Leon (www.merchesico.com) will be doing an installation on the courtyard walls with MT Casa tape.
