CDW2013 Highlight: Makers in Residence studio visits

Curious visitors to Clerkenwell Design Week 2013 got a sneak peek at the working spaces and processes of local artisans during the Makers in Residence studio visit programme at Craft Central, organised by Creative Clerkenwell. Amongst Clerkenwell’s showrooms, office buildings and cafes are the studios of silversmiths, jewellers, milliners and ceramicists, only occasionally open to the public.

Lucky visitors got to see demonstrations of hat-making by milliner Rachel Black, cuttlefish casting by jeweller Andrew English, gem-setting by goldsmith Mark Nuell, letterpress printing by Apple & Pear, and more.
